Bluetooth headset with mini usb charger?
Are there any bluetooth headsets that charge with mini usb? (like the blackberry curve uses?)
I travel enough that I'd rather not have to carry another charger. My blackberry and garmin gps use the same mini usb charger (as does my skycaddie when I play golf :) ). Are there any good bluetooth headsets that charge via mini usb? If so, maybe I'll replace my Voyager 510. QUESTION UPDATED BELOW-- also looking for bluetooth 2.0... |

and in the true f/t spirit, if you're a ua mp member, you can earn miles with headsets.com (and fwiw, i've earned miles on every purchase that was below the $25 minimum ;))

My Motorola, I think it is the H700, uses a mini-USB plug.
|
I'm pretty sure my BlueAnt V1 is a mini-USB plug
|
OK, updated question then. The Moto H700 has mini USB, but doesn't have bluetooth 2.0-- it's just 1.2. The BlueAnt requires a mini USB adapter (another small thing to carry around and/or get lost.)
My Voyager 510 is older, and only supports bluetooth 1.1. I'm looking for a good bluetooth headset that supports bluetooth 2.0 and uses a mini usb charger. Anybody got ideas? |

The Motorokr S9 from motorola supports v2.0 and has usb charging. I use it for both music and talking on my phone. Depending on your phone type it will mute the music and take a incoming call. It's smaller than the H700, good battery life.

the "older" (2007 models) motorola headsets all use mini-usb to charge. i believe the newer ones (2008) are moving to a micro-usb connector. someone might be able to tell you if they provide the small mini-to-micro adaptor (the one i got with my q9 is really itsy bitsy).

I have three motorola usb headsets, the H3, H350, and H700 I think, and they all have mini USB charging jacks. My H780, unfortunately, has some sort of smaller jack looking a little like a smooshed mini USB jack

Motorola now started using micro-usb charging ports on all of their new Bluetooth products. This is what you need to convert from mini-usb to micro-usb. http://www.msgdigital.com/productdet...roductid=46060
Seriously, it is tough to comprehend that the minuscule space savings from smooshing your USB plug warranted changing the plug.... |
Exactly. My whole point was to eliminate one of the chargers that I carry, since my bluetooth is old and the sound is getting worse anyway. I've been carrying a Plantronics Voyager 510 with it's own charger for a long time now. I figure since I've tried to get everything else with mini-USB I should reduce the charger count in my bag and get a mini-USB compatible bluetooth.
Turns out I went another way with it instead-- I got a Plantronics Discovery 925, which comes with a case that has a battery. So now I can carry the case and not have to charge the headset until I get back home. I can just use the case to top the battery off while I travel. It's still one too many things to carry, but now I can charge the headset in my computer bag during the day without a power outlet, which is cool. |

The 925 seems to be getting very good reviews, and addresses at least two of the concerns I had with the Jawbone. Has anyone made the switch from the Jawbone to the 925? |

Looks like you can get a usb adapter plug for the plantronic headsets
http://www.headsetexperts.com/Plantr...p/73651-01.htm http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-US.../dp/B000BZROBM contends compatibility with the Discovery 640 & 645 (just like the dongle thingie) as well as the 510. I have another email into them, but wanted to see if we have any actual experience here. Cheers. |
