Flip?

I hear there is a flip? Where you can record? Does anyone have one? Do you like it, use it, enjoy it?

Can you share your thoughts?

It is very basic, image quality is acceptable. Starts up quickly and uses regular batteries.

My wife saw one and now she's gotta have it. She heard that a newer, better model is coming out soon though, and is waiting for that. I looked at it and wasn't impressed, but it would probably be a good fit for her, she's a bit on the less technical side.

That is the Flip MinoHD. At $229 I'd try and talk her into getting the Kodak Zi6 instead; comes in pink and is only $175. Also looks less of a gimmick than the Flip.

I've got a pair of Flips that I use for work - I do some stuff with work practices and ergonomics, and they're very convenient for snapping quick clips of people on the job. Just plug it in and go - then I can embed the clips in a training deck.

They're not fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but for the casual user who wants to shoot a quick video and e-mail it around or stick it on YouTube, it's about as simple as you can get. They're also handy because I'm often handing one to a blue-collar guy who might not be tech savvy. It's so simple I don't even need to tell them how to use it.

The fact that they take AA batteries is a plus too - battery life is good, and it's one less proprietary charger I've got to stick in my bag. The AV cable it uses will also work with a 5G iPod, so there's a nice synergy there in my gadget bag, too.

Thanks for the info. My general goal is to stall her until something else catches her fancy and she forgets about it, then repeat cycle indefinitely. The last thing we need is more stuff that gets used once and then becomes a dust catcher.
