Phone and charger. Palm Zire.
Will be getting a netbook soon and will bring that and relevant gear. We prefer to travel light and leave the kitchen sink at home :). No checked luggage on any trip (well, 8 days to Europe in Winter so far just from carry-on) Cheers. |
Too much stuff:
1. Cell phone (Nokia e90) + charger 2. Camera (even though cell phone has a camera) + charger 3. Sony eBook Reader + charger 4. Bluetooth earphone + charger 5. Archos media player (plays music, videos, etc.) + charger 6. Bose noise canceling ear phones. 7. XM radio + charger Sometimes I take my laptop, too. There are some overlapping functions represented above. Maybe one of these days I will figure out how to take less. Oh yeah...I also take a power strip so that I can plug in all of the chargers! :) |

I travel with my laptop (cheap old Acer running Arch Linux or Asus EEE PC 701 running Debian Linux depending on my mood), cell phone (nasty old MotoRazr V3xx), and iPod (30GB iPod Video). I don't need or want anything else except to replace phone and iPod with iPhone when I'm upgrade-eligible in January.

You really should consider the Chargepod; I switched from 9 chargers to just one. Saved me ton of weight...

I'm stunned at the amount of stuff that some of you bring on trips. I travel >200k miles / year and I'd go crazy trying to drag around that much.
I bring: - Either Dell notebook or Aspire One netbook (depending on trip) - AT&T 3G card - iPod touch 16Gb + earphones - Blackberry 8100 - Occasionally Nikon S600 camera, depending on trip I work in an industry that pretty much depends on me being able to connect to the Internet wherever I am, and I very rarely find myself being caught short with this setup. This is about 80% international travel, predominently Europe, Middle East, Australia. Charging cables for anything I have with me (USB only where possible) just go into my main clothes bag. Some people just bring gadgets for the sake of gadgets I think :) |
Here is my list of electronic stuff:
1. Thinkpad T60, AC/DC charger, a very thin ethernet cable, modem cable, a EVDO card. 2. Either Bose QC2 or a Sennheiser PXC-150 headset, spare batteries and adapters. 3. Nikon Coolpix P5000 or S7c camera with a spare battery. 4. Nokia N73 world phone, spare battery and a charger. 5. Sometime a DoCoMo FOMA phone and charger (for Japan trips). 6. Garmin eTrex Venture Cx GPS, USB cable, spare batteries. 7. My BB 8830 for it's contact list etc. It use same USB cable in item 6 for charging. The MicroSD card holds my music. All the cables and AC adapters go in a single pouch. |
Lenovo T60p laptop
Internet connectivity: *Novatel EX720 EV-DO card *Orinoco Gold WiFi card w/external high gain antenna Cellphones: *Motorola Q *Samsung Ace SPH-i325 Plantronics Voyager 520 headset (works with both phones) Plantronics corded headset for the Motorola Q in noisy enviroments (the 520 is not really noise cancelling, at least not with my phones) My camera is Nikon CoolPix S6 I have an extra power brick for the laptop and set of chargers for my phones that stay in my bag, along with an extension cord, travel adapter, etc. |
Must Bring:
Sony Type G Laptop + charger Sony PSP w/ extra memory sticks to watch movies/TV programs + charger AT&T Tilt w/ Int'l Data Roaming + charger Skype Phone Business Trip: Old Nokia 6300 Phone if visiting customers (no camera/no memory) + charger Personal Trip: Nikon D90 + 18-200mm + charger Sony T100 + charger (I can't believe it has T700 now...) |
