iPhone 2.0 hands down. I've use Treos, BBs, Iphone (a little bit of everything) and the Apple software is great compared to all the others. Can;t wait to see 3.0 and 4.0 and 5.0...

Is Thunder going to have multi-touch or is it just a simple touch screen like Instinct?

On the integration front, I recall reading that some IFE vendors wanted to support iPods, actually letting people dock or sync with IFE music choices.

If they just provide USB ports so you can keep your iPod/iPhone charged during a long flight, that would be nice.

I'd be curious to see cars with iPod dock support. Or are we talking about aftermarket or dealer-installed kits?

Looks like more and more OEM stereos come with Aux jacks and while these are nice, it would be nicer to have what is on the iPod displayed on the dash somewhere.

It became so common that in Top Gear magazine in the UK, they actually have "iPod support" as a column in their car comparison table...

I'll be making my choice between these two and the Nokia E71, I suspect. Still don't know which way I'm going to go.

The E71 was announced today. RRP 350 euro. And if what I've read about the keyboard is right, the size makes it very attractive.

Oh to be spoilt for choice!

Here's my Infiniti with an iPod dock I installed a couple years ago. Ignore the song selections :) It uses the OEM Nissan adapter a year before it was available on the new cars.

Many new cars are much better, usually displaying the playlists and songs in a much more user friendly way on the screen. Even better is the Ford Sync system, which makes everything voice activated as well as shown on the screen.

I have had an iPod dock in our last three cars, and for the iPhone it's great since it plays the songs, usually control it through the steering wheel, charges the phone, allows you to connect with bluetooth through the car speakers, and speak through the car microphone. When a call comes in, it automatically mutes the audio. You can also answer with the phone itself to keep the call private. The address book downloads to the car and I could dial / pick from the contacts list from the center display or the nav screen.

Now if the iPhone supported bluetooth streaming audio, you wouldn't even need the dock except to charge.

Is this what the kid next door put onto our BB 8800 when he said he was going to update it? It is like it is a whole new experience, with much a enhanced typeface font, complete HTML functionality, and a GPS directional feature that is almost as good as a TomTom.

He said that T and ATT would not be coming out with it for a few months and that we should have it now.
