Nokia maps and city guides
Hi, has anybody used these during a trip?
I'm particularly interested in the electronic city guides, but the information in the Nokia site is scarse (http://www.nokia.co.uk/maps) I'm tired of using a book as a city guide, having to constantly change pages to find places of interests, maps, restaurants, transportation, etc., so I'm looking for a more modern way of visiting a city. It doesn't have to be Nokia exclusively (althought the N95 seems to be a very versatile device), I'd like to learn about other options as well. Cheers. |
Well, I've got an N95 and have found Maps to be invaluable while I'm travelling around in Australian cities, especially if I've rented a car and just want to get from A to B or if I find myself lost or disoriented. I tend to leave 'breadcrumbs' in the form of setting Landmarks at key locations as I move around the city. I'll set one for the hotel when I arrive, one for the train stations or bus stop if I take public transport somewhere and then walk away from the stop to go exploring. That way I can always find my way back.
I've also loaded it up with Google Maps for S60, which can be quite handy at times as well. However the city guides are a bit poor for Australia, so I've given them a miss. I think they're better in places like the US or Europe though. |
