I have two JX-10's around somewhere - I needed to re-pair every time it was out of range or the phone was off - and am about to send back my second SM100 - about 8 hours of standby time and nasty screeching sound if their fancy electronics are turned on. Maybe a Jawbone is the next try.

I had a Motorola, but it didn't work very well, so I bought a Jawbone. I have been quite happy with the Jawbone.

Motorola H700

I have used about every BT out there since they first started. From the early Jabras which were pretty good at the time, to now the high quality plantronics, some of the sammys were good, and the micros. I still say the Jawbone, if it FITS with your head and style is the best one out there for function and sound.

They are now between 69 and 75 online. I think a new version is coming

I have a Jabra as well, and it's really just ok. The sound quality isn't great for the person listening (or for me). I am on the hunt for another one, so this has been a good thread to read.

Another Jabra I like is the BT5010; sliding boom mic and vibrating call alert. Audio is great.

I also have a Moto H700 and like it a lot. Im not a big fan of their phones but like the ability to turn on the headset by just flipping the boom open.

I charge my jawbone with USB

My bad; all I remembered is that I couldn't charge it off a normal USB port. The need for a special little cradle frustrated me enough to dump the thing. It's in a box somewhere here with 20 other headsets.

I've never had a problem with people hearing me on my Voyager in a noisy environment. The sliding boom makes it easier for them to hear me, and the in ear gel makes it noise isolating for me.

I'm glad so many people do like the Jawbone; it just wasn't meant for me.

Sync on my new company car. No more earpiece. Yea!

Update on my Jawbone experience

Just an update: I like the Jawbone's performance--clearest sound quality I've had from a BT headset. However, mine has turned out to be fragile in use--I've had two of the earpieces break off like an over-flexed paper clip, one in West Texas on a cross-country drive when I really needed it and had no backup. I had to order extras from Aliph, since they were not available locally at any price. Fine, I stocked up on extras and carried one in my briefcase. The second time this happened, I managed to botch the replacement process and snap off the entire round plastic piece that holds the ear loop and the speaker that goes in my ear! (It may just be my lack of a delicate touch--fortunately, I am not a surgeon.) While I contemplate some impromptu repairs with super glue, I am using a Motorola H700, which is adequate but doesn't sound as good.

One thing I did figure out about the Jawbone--while it does require that you use the special cord for charging, the output of the Jawbone charger, if you need to plug into a wall outlet, is the same as that of an iPod charger, though the packaging isn't as sleek. So if you have both, don't carry both chargers, you're wasting space and weight.

So to recap:
Aliph Jawbone:
Performance--^^^^
Durability--:td::td:

I'm also on my third Jawbone. Aliph replaced the previous two under warranty (originally purchased from J&R) and were quite nice and very fast about it. I've kludged together a nice little case to carry my Jawbone around in. I'm actually thinking about getting a modified version manufactured, as I haven't seen any Jawbone-specific cases anywhere.

Finally, note that the Jawbone will charge just fine from any standard USB port. I can charge it from laptop, the USB hub in my office, or any of the USB chargers that I carry.

I'm also one that just can't get a good fit with Jawbone. I wear glasses and have had trouble getting any headset to work and fit well. Any suggestions from fellow "four eyes" types?

I listen to music on my treo 650 through RealPlayer. Is there a Bluetooth headset that gives you stereo sound, plus the ability to answer calls?
