HTC Shift

I got this baby for my birthday on Sat probably as a result I guess of me whining all the time how heavy my laptop is.

Now while I think it's a pretty cool device I am thinking of returning it and waiting for the Apple subnotebook or something similar.

The major turn off is the battery life - 2h !! I mean what kind of mobile device is that...

Any comments? I need something light, decent battery life, ~10' screen - movies, e-mail, some word processing and other basic apps. A tablet may also work

Oh and I need ideas how not to piss off my significant other - I am pretty sure it was rather difficult to get it

Thanks

One powered by Windows and running the full suite of mobility apps. For some reason Microsoft hasn't figured out the radio management/battery management thing yet :D

Shift is too little too late. It was first announced well over a year ago, and back then it would have been quite cool. But now it's underpowered, underspecced and overpriced.

It's a shame, cause back at the announcement I would have purchased one in a heartbeat.

Oddly enough, the upcoming 9" EEE PC might suit you just fine, it isn't a tablet but it'll do everything you mentioned.

The Shift was meant to come with GPS and second CPU (one for Windows, one for Windows Mobile). But at $1700 you'd be better off with a Macbook Air...

Toshiba Satellite R25

Is great - had mine for 2-1/2 years and had no issues until the wireless switch broke - physically broke. So, while it is in the shop, I am really drooling over the http://www.electrovaya.com/scribbler...bbler4000.aspx - super light, best battery in the biz. ^
