I use Jing, available for free here

http://jingproject.com/

It's great for recording either full screen stuff or just windows you want to use. It captures the audio too.

I've had good success with Applian's products. Not free though.

The latest version of RealPlayer (Free) can record or download live streaming video. It automatically pops up a little box asking u if you want to record whenever you start a live stream. It will even download the stream in the background without having to watch it in real time.

I think the maximum length of a recording is 8 hours.

When I go to install Jing, it tells me that I must have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0.

What is this and what will it mean to me to have in on my computer - other than being able to use Jing, that is?

.NET is a program that enables data-sharing among numerous programs - it's free at microsoft.com
