Don't forget that there is Star Office or Open Office as an alternative to the Microsoft Office Suite.

I don't hate Office (although I prefer 2003 to 2007). I just have no need of Office Access and prefer not to have unwanted programs cluttering up my hard drive.

Dell, HP and Lenovo (maybe all mfgs) have an annoying habit of sticking a lot of unwanted junk on new computers. I'm sure it makes them money through deals with the software vendors, but it's nothing but a nuisance to the buyer, IMO.

I believe it's Dell that just stopped doing this.

Only on their Vostro line. The Optiplex line still has all the crud installed by default, IIRC.
