Are you not affiliated with this company?

That being said, I have spoken with Hollyw00d about a dozen times over the last year regarding mail forwarding services and would currently be with him if I wasn't traveling and using ECM. I hate ECM, its a horrible company, don't believe a word they say.

My problem with Traveling Mailbox is the same as it always has been (I don't care how long scans take or anything else, i just need my mail).

With ECM this is my address

With Traveling Mailbox they want you to have an address that looks like a PO box or something. That's not going to work for things that are important, i need businesses and creditors to think im' living in some fancy apartment in a rich area, not that I'm trying to scam them with a po box.

Traveling Mailbox has gotten better about this with their new address, but I still don't find it to be a great address.

All in all I will be switching to traveling mailbox as soon as I find the time. I've been with EarthClassMail for 3 years now, and have gotten more and more dissapointed by the day. I also went to school with the son of one of the owners, and that still doesn't sway my thoughts.

Can't guarentee Traveling Mailbox yet, but I can guarentee that ECM is a waste of effort, money, etc.

Good luck everybody :)

TravelingMailbox - My experiences with this company are ABYSMAL and the fact that they are playing games on this and other websites just goes to show the character of the people behind the scenes.

Joesmoe, one post you say beware of a company who has to lie (deceive) to get your business then the next post down you say that Hollywood is with Traveling Mailbox but you are willing to go with them when they have obviously been very deceitful about the way they have gone about promoting themselves on this and other websites.

Hollywood told me I was obviously someone who couldn't be pleased but I think that having my mail scanned 8 days late, changing their address without notice and then not even scanning some of my mail AT ALL would cause ANYONE to be displeased.

I would bet this is standard business practices and if you want and expect quality service you will be the next person to be told "you obviously are someone who can't be pleased". What an idiotic thing to say to a customer who have very valid complaints! Had they approached it another way perhaps they might have redeemed themselves but this is just pathetic.

Traveling Mailbox/ ECM....... and all the others

This has been an interesting thread to say the least....I usually just cruise the forums and let other folks talk, but this time I decided to get an account and post since I noted so many posts about mail forwarding company's.... anyhow, do not base your decisions of which company to use on ANYTHING I post. Do your own due diligence.... I just want to tell you what my approach was.... after reading several post about Traveling Mailbox (and one person who was highly ticked) I decided to try my own method and I did... I called the support line at Traveling Mailbox off and on for approximately 1 month...... (even had a friend to call a couple of times to ask made up questions) and to my surprise someone answered the phone every time we called (and I did try to do it when their office hours are posted as)....... Damn, that is cool for customer support I don't care if one person was ticked. I never pressed 1 or 3 or 6 or 0 to speak with a person.... a real person every time, which is pretty cool these days!

I sent questions to their support email address...... booooooo yow! Answer every time.... anyhow I signed up with them a few weeks ago and have been very pleased (so far)...... their trend continues.....

Again, don't sign up for anything without doing your own homework, because I could CARE LESS WHO YOU CHOOSE it matters not to me if you are happy or pissed.... I'm happy and that was my goal. Just wanted to state the facts about my experience.

I'm a bit skeptical of some of the posts in this thread. Caveat emptor.

That said, and for what it's worth, after 7 years I'm still a happy US Global Mail customer. My monthly rate has actually stayed the same in all that time. Their services have evolved... for example, when I log into my account, I now see scans of the envelopes I've received rather than just a list of return addresses. They've added content scanning as well, although I've never used that service. I've had only occasional contact with their customer service, but each time they've responded in a prompt, helpful, courteous manner.

USGM might not be the ideal solution for everyone's needs, but it's certainly worked well for mine.

Wow, so you not only called "them" on and off for a month you even had your friend call "them" a couple of times with made up questions?? Then created an account here on flyertalk just to defend "them"

This is the THIRD poster who created an account here on flyertalk, for one reason and one reason only. To promote this business.

I am done here. I am sure that anyone reading this post who has anything other than rocks floating around in their head can see right through this.

Yeah traveling mailbox you guys are being a little over agressive.

I was very happy with your service, however if it takes multiple phone calls and email communications within a months time frame, obviously you guys still haven't worked out all the kinks.

I still stick by my origional story (and i've been with ECM for nearly 4 years now) - Stay away from Earth Class Mail!

I have to agree with alect that USAMail1 www.usamail1.com offers the lowest monthly, and more importantly lower shipping costs than the other companies. I ave only had great service with them.

Bringing this thread back to life - I've followed it from the beginning and see posts from people with 1 post history shilling the various services.

I'm at one of those rare points where I'm moving and I'd like to just get a forwarding spot to start capturing my mail so I don't have to worry about things when I'm traveling or changing addresses.

I went through the thread again and they all seem to be bad. Anyone have any recommendations (the best of the worst?) for a decent forwarding service? My needs are really basic:

- Tell me what mail came in
- Let me pick some to be scanned if necessary
- Occasionally (rarely) forward me some of the physical mail

Hoping that with pretty basic needs I can find something pretty inexpensive although after hearing some of the horror stories (unannounced change of address, etc) I would probably be willing to pay more for a dead-reliable service.

Recommendations? For or against?

If you are moving and only need a temporary mailbox, I recommend General Delivery from the USPS. With this service, the local post office in the city/town you are moving to holds your mail for you to pick up. You need to call USPS to request this service, but it's free.

+1

And once you've got your new final address sorted out, its free forwarding to your new address. The USPS will also forward your mail to an international address for free if you're moving abroad (slow - at least a week delayed, but you get what you pay for...)

Recently moved to Canada, and my mail has been forwarded just as it would be domestically. Same form to complete - policy listed here: http://faq.usps.com/eCustomer/iq/usp...bedded#howlong

I completed 3 yrs with mailboxforwarding.com last month and I have been very pleased with their service. They raised their rates a bit but I have been grand-fathered into the old rate of $9.95 / month.

I have used VirtualPostMail
for about 2 years now. In general, service seems pretty consistent, although scanning sometimes takes a day or two (and delivery notifications seem to happen at the end of the day, so you can't even send a scan request until after business hours usually). The interface is pretty, and reasonably functional. Check cashing and mail forwarding has worked well, and customer service has been responsive. The pricing is good too, at least for my needs (I can usually get by with the $10/mo plan). Beware that the prices that you see on their site will double are introductory offers (they double after that 3 month period). Also, it worries me a bit that their blog has been radio silent for long time, and that no site development has happened in a while.

I search every 6 months or so for a better alternative, but so far I haven't found one.

Also looking for a mail forwarding/pick-up service with an address in NY (NYC if possible), but it looks like most of the posts here are shills (1-3 post history and only to promote a particular service) with only a few useful posts from alect and others with more posts.

Will check out USAMail1 and US Global Mail. Anyone know of affordable (<$40/mo) mail receipt services in NYC with actual street addresses (vs. PMB or something that looks like a P.O. box?) where we can go pick up mail?
