I'm sure an FTer will be along shortly with some answers for you, but in the meantime I've found the official Apple Discussions forum to be very useful. It's likely someone there will have had your problems before and a search will yield some solutions.

Sharing files, etc.
As administrator (X) you have access to all files and applications. However what level of access did you give for Y and Z? If less than 'admin' access, and your photos stored under X, you are not 'permitted' to access X files (or applications in theory).
Two options Go to System preferences > Accounts > either under Y or Z, see if "Allow user to administrater this computer" box is checked. If not, check them off and you'll see any and all of X files/apps If you don't want to give Y and/or Z adminstration privileges, then you need to load pictures separately under one of these two accounts and then only that account plus X will have access. For lots more details, suggest you consider purchasing these two eBooks from http://www.takecontrolbooks.com/ 1. Taking Control of Users and Accounts in Leopard (will work for Tiger too) 2. Taking Control of Sharing Files Both are $5 (or $10) each? PS - re nano problem, i would take to genius bar for them to troubleshoot; that way, you then have on record reporting this problem....maybe need to get 'replacement' from apple. |
1) You might have an alarm set. Try this. From the "main menu" of the iPod, select Extras. Select Alarms.
That's on my iPod classic. On the 2G Nano, it's main menu, then extras, then Clock. I then select the clock or time zone, then Alarm Clock. I've had that "spontaneously" appear before. Very annoying if it's set to 3 AM! 2) I'm not going to get into this one. It does sound like permissions since Y and Z can access iDVD. I'd go with wingnut's suggestion to look at the Apple discussion forums or Google. I don't think the problem is getting Y and Z access to the photos of X (which is fairly easy to do) as much as figuring out why iDVD won't start for user X. Thanks for the Take Control suggestions, dtsm. I definitely know some people who can use them! |

Happy holidays. |
You might try this discussion forum
http://discussions.apple.com/categor...categoryID=128 That's the first place I go. Did you check the permissions? Highlight the iDVD in the applications folder and either click on the i in the toolbar or click command i. That will bring up a long box. At the bottom there is a box that says ownership and permissions. Try unlocking the owner file. (You should be logged in as administrator to do this.) Is there a reason you have set up three users? I find this annoying. (Of course, I find a lot since OS 6 annoying. Oh well. I liked extensions.) And, on the other hand, I remember writing FORTRAN programs for an IBM 360 that had 512K of memory and took up an entire huge room with tape drives. Yes, I am old, old, old. |
Portions of the post that previously appeared in this space have been deleted. I would provide you with a reason why, but doing so would likely be against the TOS.

Ipod touch question
My young daughter is bewildered as her ipod has a problem she can't seem to fix. On the home screen (the one that has all the apps listed) the size of the app icons appear to have suddenly gone to 2-3 times their normal size. So has everything on the ipod - in all games and apps everything is 2-3 times normal size.
She says it just suddenly happened in an app, doesn't think she did anything. How can she fix this? - she has tried the thing where you put two finger tips on the screen and close them together to shrink the screen. Doesn't seem to work though......any thoughts? |
Try resetting it first.
|
No need to reset it. Sounds like she has somehow turned on zoom under accessibility settings. On the iPhone (I assume it's the same on the iPod touch) it's under settings> general> accessibility> zoom.
