Well, I purchased a new 60" Sony XBR and a Canon 40D in the last 2 months, and an HD-DVD player with a dozen movies in the last week, so I think I'm tapped out for anything new for the official Xmas day.

Were you already a Cannon user? If so, what glass do you have? If not, why was Cannon your choice?

It seems that the TX has been replaced by the TZ. (I have a TX 670P myself and it's a great machine.)

By UMTS, do you mean Sprint Broadband?

In any case, I hope you find this machine under the tree: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665253598

I don't want to buy anything, but say a ipod touch (shut up) came in my stocking, I would be stoked.

I don't need an iphone.

Yes, Canon since an Elan IIe in the early 90's. I'm well invested into their system, so the D300 wasn't an option, and I didn't want to wait for the new 5D. Lenses? Tokina 12-24, 17-40/4L, 24-105/4L IS, Tamron 28-75/2.8, 50/1.4, 70-200/2.8L IS, 85/1.8, 100/2.8 macro, 100-400L IS, (2) 1.4TC....hmmm, I think that's it.

Hmmm, maybe that 500/4 I've been lusting after, as a nice Xmas gift. A bit spendy, requires a new tripod. Or wait for the 5DII. So many options, so little money.

Got myself one of these:
http://www.ivie.com/products_inst_ie35intro.htm

Based on a Dell Axim51v (I know, old news), a very unique tool that will come in handy for my work. The sleeve, microphone, and software is worth many times that of the 51v!

I'm not real a gadget person even though I work in a "big boys toy store", but I did buy myself the new Plantronics Calista Pro bluetooth phone for home. I will never give up my landline and I can use my Plantronics 590A headphones with it. It frees me up so much around the house. The phone comes in a 1 or 2 line model and everyone is surprised that my landline is bluetooth.

Those are some great lenses. I had the Tokina 12-24 in Nikon mount, but wasn't using it much at all and let it go. I picked up a Sigma 15-30mm just to have something wider than my primary zoom and I've really fallen in love with it. It's a big piece of full-frame glass so some of its full-frame shortcomings are masked (no pun) by the APS sensor. As a Nikon shooter, the 24-105/4L IS is one lens I'm jealous for... our closest equivalent, the 24-120/3.5-5.6 VR doesn't really match up. The Tamron 28-75/2.8 is also a real low-cost gem, especially since the Canon version has an internal motor. Overall I have a similar setup in Nikon (almost all Sigma)... 15-30/3.5-4.5 EX DG, 28-70/2.8 EX, 70-200/2.8 EX HSM, 50/2.8 EX DG Macro, 1.4 EX TC, EF-500 EX DG... and a guilty pleasure Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 for theme parks, light hiking, and any time I don't want to carry the whole bag.

The other lenses I'd like are to upgrade/add are my old 28-70/2.8 EX to the newer 24-70/2.8 EX DG. I'm really hoping they add HSM to a mid-range zoom sometime soon... or if Tamron would add an internal motor to the Nikon version of the 28-75/2.8 I'd be just as happy. I'd also like to add the 17-70/2.8-4.5 DC Macro and replace my Tamron 28-300/3.5-6.3 with their new stabilized version.

EDIT: It looks like they have added HSM to the 18-50/2.8 and 17-70/2.8-4.5 so I may consider one of those as a replacement for my 28-70/2.8 EX. If they would just add HSM to the 24-70/2.8 EX DG, i'd be a very happy camper.

Not as addicted to tech toys now.
Maybe a small MP3 player for running, and a Garmin GPS unit.

Already bought the Philips 52" LCD HDTV - beautiful picture.

A portable GPS could be a fun toy, but don't know that I really need one. I get along fine with google maps.

How about a bloody refrigerator? *grumbles*

Girlfriend woke me up Sunday morning. "Can you look at the freezer? There's water all over the kitchen floor and food isn't frozen anymore."

So off to the stores and shops for most of Sunday afternoon looking for a new unit. (The busted one I had the previous owners leave with house and it's from '92, no sense repairing it.) And it's sold at "TV & Appliance" stores and has a motherboard, so it counts a techie, right?

I felt the same way, then I realized Santa was too unpredictable (what if he thought I had been bad? ) and bought it myself.

I wanted the anytime/anyplace internet access of the iPhone, but I really did not want to double my monthly cell phone bill and be roped into a two year contract (never have, and hopefully never will).

You know, i was using the same rationalization to pull the trigger on an ITouch for myself, but after reading the thread and reviews about the Asus eee, believe I may buy the Asus instead.

Frogger

A$900

A brand new, old style, console game. It has frogger, galaga and another one preloaded.

20 cents a game, I reckon my mates will give me ROI within 6 months.

Apparently these are selling like hot cakes here in Brisbane.

Ahh - back to the 80's - was there a better time?
