Got a second hand Nikon D200 from a fellow forumite. On a side note, I'm actually trying to tote around fewer devices, not more.

What lenses do you have for the Nikon? 28-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5, 50mm f/2.8 Macro, and 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 for Disney World.

My wife and I are Disney World season pass holders and I love taking pictures there. The 28-300mm is great for the job and image quality isn't of paramoutn importances, while versatility is. I'm REALLY interested in the new Tamron 28-300mm VC (their equivalent of VR). They're available now in Canon mount and soon in Nikon mount. I might also consider the Sigma 18-200mm OS, but I usually like the long end more than the wide end.

I have the 18-70 f/3.5-4.5, 12-24 f/4, 80-200 f/2.8 and 50 f/1.8. 18-70 is the walking around lens. 50 is a pretty good portrait lens on the DX sensor.

My SIL is getting the 18-200 and I'm going to check that out when I visit them in Feb. That may become the new walking around lens.

It isn't electronic? You don't play with a remote or numchuk? Do you at least have a robot partner?

I'd go for the Wii, but I'm afraid the new games will require you to not only wave your arms, but actually run around the room. Good grief.

I've already bought myself an IBMx31 laptop and Canon SD800 to replace earlier versions, but for no good real reason except I'm worth it.

I've got a Kindle on order for Mr. lili - he's reading books on his Blackberry

For a little under $1500 (about the cost of my receiver alone) in equipment this setup should be very impressive for the non-audiophile that he is. He'll mainly use it for prime time HDTV, sports, and some movies. It won't be reference quality by my standards but will make him smile from ear-to-ear for a long time. I'm really eager to see it all come together and see how good it will really be for such a (relatively) small amount of money.
Holy crap, that is a great deal for what all he's getting! Granted not audiophile as you say, but lots of bang for the buck...

Can you help me out with the purchase location on this? The sears card I see, but I'm not familiar with BF?

EDIT: Oh crap, never mind. At sears on Black Friday. Duh.

I'm buying myself an NAS device with large hard drives. My family wouldn't have a clue as to what it is until I set it up, and then they'll use it more than me!

I figure this is the year to finally get a GPS. I'm already kicking myself for missing the Costco deal of $300 for the Garmin Nuvi 650.

Thanks

I want Rock Band but I don't have an Xbox 360 or a PS3. That'll come in the spring sometime when I can finally buy GTA 4.

But I think I might just have to go buy Guitar hero III for my Wii. My friend picked that up and I think we're both dying to jam to some tunes together with those spiffy guitars. So the $80 purchase of that game is probably in order before Christmas arrives.

Not sure yet, but leaning towards an HP unit, probably around 500gb. I may put together the unit myself using a base unit and plugging in my own drives. I've been toying with the idea of going from scratch using MS's software and my own hardware. It's less expensive, but if something goes wacky, I'm the guy I have to yell at...!
