Simple PDA?

My wife's Palm Tungsten E just died. She uses it mainly for calender, contacts and tracking purchases, with the occasional photo viewing. She liked the screen. After year's of using Palm devices, there's lots on her PC in Palm format. She does not need a phone, media player, outlook syncing, bluetooth or mini-computer.

Would a Tungsten E2 be the best replacement or is there something else to consider?

Other than that it's a mini-computer, which I said we don't want, and it's much bigger than a pda ...

Keep it simple. She knows Palm, so stick with that.

They actually have some Black Friday deals going on at the moment too:

Why not an iPod Touch. You currently can't add calendar events from the device - but Steve Jobs has evidently promiesed that will be fixed.

Thanks... I'm looking for the exact same thing.. I just want to keep my life with me in one place. :)

I don't mind having a separate phone.

Absolutely agree with ScottC.

Keep it simple.

I had WindowsCE device once and the learning curve was huge, compared to the Palm stuff (I've had one Palm or another for 10 years) I already knew so well.

@Scott - thanks for the sale info. Prices were higher when I checked earlier today.

Simple is good, but not having to re-enter data or find good conversion software is more important

The TX looks nicer than the E2.

@Allan - she just got an Archos 605, which is great. She chose it over the iTouch.

In theory, Archos will come out with widgets that will have much of the Palm functionality. I have my doubts. Paper is the other main alternative.

thanks

Missed hearing about the Archos somehow. The ability to record TV Shows is pretty amazing. I know what your wife means though - my iPhone makes it simple to keep "my life in one place".

The Archos has a much nicer screen than the iPhone / iTouch - bigger and higher resolution. For a video player, this seemed an important feature and outweighed any other benefits of the Apple versions.
