Mapping web-sites
 

I have used www.viamichelin.com to map my current itineraries.

However, when I try to zoom out in www.viamichelin.com (to get a better view) I cannot save that image.

Do you know of any web-site that might allow a better cut / paste for maps?

My goal is to put these maps in my blog so people can see where I have been.

http://maps.google.com lets you create maps with pushpins and route data. Another neat site is http://www.boringstreet.com where one can post photos with a Google map attached, like this: http://boringstreet.com/boringstreet...p?image_id=241 (if you zoom in max, you can see the cable car where the photographer was).

How do you save the 'graphic' from http://maps.google.com to my harddrive?

Can that be done?

If I try to 'send it' it only sends a link back to the map stored in google.

You can use the old fashioned screen capture way within Windows.

Hold down Shift and hit the Print Screen button.

Open up Paint or other imaging software and hit Paste, that will paste a picture of what is on your screen.

Not really a user, but try mapquest. they have a beta at I think beta.mapquest.com, which is suppossed to allow better printing and mapping.

Of course, mapquest is the LEADER in online mapping by a HUGE margin over all the others, but I don't know anyone who actually uses it.

There are tons of screen capture programs out there if you are just looking for a shot of the screen, but printscreen and then saving the image is what I use most.

Google Maps has a "Print" button just above the big rectangle that contains the map.
