Thanks I just ordered them.

My Sony's NC's are a few years old and starting to be less effective, for this price how could I say no?

Note: as per the Amazon page, these are a discontinued item by the manufacturer.

Not to say they aren't any good, but just a reference point.

I have a pair and love them. I'm strongly considering a second now. I wish the headset version was at such low low prices.

Pricing out at $60.67 now. Wish I had seen the post sooner.

Are these headphones good? I have been looking for noise-cancelling headphones, but I was focusing on over-the-ear headphones. I was kinda hoping for a poor-man's Bose, but will settle for these if others can attest to their quality and effectiveness!

Thanks for the input,
BB.

IMO, these headphones are very good; for $40, they're great. I used these for about a year, until I moved on up to the e4c once I found them for 50% off. The e4c's are even better, but for $40 you can't argue with the e2c. Very comfortable, very good sound quality, and they block out a good amount of external noise.

They are not headphones at all. The E2Cs are in-ear, noise-isolating earphones. I have a pair and like them very much but they are not noise-cancelling. There is no cancellation circuitry. They form a nice seal in the ear and feed the sound signal in through the plug, blocking most of the surrounding noise. They come with a selection of interchangeable tips to fit almost any ear.

I am going to try and get a second pair, too - assuming the price holds until I get home at lunchtime.

They're discontinued because Shure introduced a new line of earphones. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the old line and $40 is a killer deal.

In for one pair myself..

They're back to $39.99 at present but currently not in stock. What a killer deal!

AMAZING phones... but they aren't active. They are in ear and passive noise reduction headphones. More effective, but some don't like inserting anything into their ears. I have the higher end Shures and have used these. They're great phones and at that price are a no brainer.
