When does the iPhone come out in Asia?

I think they'll be in Britain by the end of the year, but when in Asia?

Just order one from the USA and have somebody bring it over for you. The price will be better this way as well.

and how will it work?

the US versions are locked. Therfore, no one can use it unless they are planning to pay for Cingular's roaming rate in Europe !!!

Unlocking is pretty easy. I've been using mine for a month or so here in Europe on Movistar, no problems.

I enjoy Maddox's take on the iPhone:

hi,

does anybody understand the logic why the iphone (locked) is still selling at prices over 399USD ?

i thought you could go into any apple shop and just buy a apple iphone for 399usd now!???

...and before you can use it, you must sign up for a two-year contract with AT&T worth thousands of dollars.

The unlocked one doesn't have that problem.

that is not the problem i meant

why is the locked one selling at over 399 usd when everybody can buy it in the appleshop for 399 ???

some people pay 490 usd for the locked one.

the unlocked one will go down to 450 usd soon as the keys are now available...

Probably because there are no Apple shops in most of the world.

The people buying them are not in the USA. They're unavailable outside of the USA, and Apple won't sell them outside of the USA (they also won't sell them in states like Vermont which don't have AT&T service). So if you're in Canada and you want one you either have to drive / fly to the USA, or buy it on eBay.

yeah this makes sense. while i was thinking from a FTer point of view... just do a MR and get the iphone, or ask a friend in the us to get one for you.
i see why people outside the us could pay more than 399usd...

but hopefully the prices for the iphone will drop on ebay under the 399 soon...
