Home Thermometer Recommendations
 

Hi,

So I am looking for a digital thermometer for the home. Something like those Oregon Scientific things, have a couple of wireless sensor and display the basic weather information (temp, humidity, etc).

And of course, it should look cool.

I seen a few from Oregon Scientific via the Newegg website. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I use an Oregon Scientific WMR968. It is more than just a thermometer. You can get a WMR968 for under $200.

I use it in combination with Virtual Weather Station software from Ambient Weather. I then pump the data to a personal Weather Underground web page. I have several neighbors that look at my web site on a daily basis.

I have also added a couple of the Starck sensors to my setup. At $15 each I think the Starck sensors are a great deal even by themselves.

Maybe that is overkill for what you are looking for

I can second UAVirgin's recommendation of the Oregon WMR968. I imported one from the states a couple of years ago ($1=£1, don't you know :mad:) and it has served me very well ever since. Certainly it's more than a basic thermometer with solar-powered, wireless anenometer, wind vane, barometer/thermometer/hygrometer and rain gauge. Coupled with the correct software (in my case Ambient's Virtual Weather Station and Meteorologica's WeatherFlash) it can produce very nice live results. Mine are at Centre for Water Systems Weather Station... as long as the computer that runs the weather station is still running ;)

I recently purchased the LaCrosse 8025. It has the remote sensor for outside and has worked well so far.

I am contemplating the remote water sensor to display the pool temperature on the weather station.

I picked up the LaCrosse WS-9118U for my dad's birthday last year, and he loves it. Reasonably priced (under $70 on-line), offers heat index, indoor/outdoor humidity and temp, forecast based on air pressure trend, radio-controlled clock, and handles up to 3 remotes.

I have used one of the Oregon Scientific models for a couple years and like it, though I have yet to be able to get it to sync with the atomic clock correctly.
