Verizon Razr Fried

I recently purchased a Motorola Razr from Verizon. When I used my BlackBerry cord to charge, it fried my phone. How much of a difference is there in charging devices?

What exactly happened? The cord is just a passive device, what was the voltage source? RAZRs expect 5 volts, I think.

Mrs. Rb and Miss Rb have not been able to use a BB charger on their phones. It just doesn't work.

Their phones fried for other reasons. Miss Rb is on her third, Mrs. Rb on her second.

RAZRs actually need Motorola chargers to charge. A regular charger usually won't work.

However, all that should happen is the charger won't work. The BB charger should not cause the RAZR to fry.

A razor is not the same as a RAZR. Maybe that's why.

I fried a Nokia phone with a generic iGo charger a couple of years ago, so it does happen.

The Verizon v3c and v3m need a Motorola charger for whatever reason (probably so Verizon could push more chargers).

I've found that BlackBerry chargers don't work on the Verizon RAZRs, however, you can use the RAZR charger on the BlackBerry.

If the phone isn't physically damaged (i.e. smashed, LCD cracked) and not water-damaged, you can usually get a refurb for $50 if the phone is out-of-warranty.
