Hyperlink Help

Did a search on this simple question but found nothing. Can anyone tell me how to imbed hyperlinks in a word, i.e. "check out this new product "here" where "here" is a hyperlink?

Have long wondered how this was done...

Replace all the {}'s with square ones

{URL="http://www.link goes here"}text goes here{/URL}

Sorry, but I don't think I understand. If I wanted to have flyertalk.com imbeded in the word here would I do this:

{http://www.flyertalk.com} here{http://www.flyertalk.com}

You would use square brackets and type

{URL="http://www.flyertalk.com"}here{/URL}

which will look like this

here

When in doubt, hit the quote button on a post you want to mimic, and itwill show you the code

Thanks. Got it. Will this work in other places (i.e. other email or web postings) or is this specific to flyertalk postings?

The [..] syntax is specific to this bulletin board.

Is there some more generic way to do this? It would be a great thing to be able to do in other emails, listservs etc.

Depends on the mail, it could be done in standard HTML in most of them.

Lots of other BB's use this same coding, so it may work many places.

In mails, it goes something like this (this time, replace the squigglies with < and >'s

{A href="www.flyertalk.com"}Click here for flyertalk{/A}

You need to be editing it in HTML though.

Specifically, it's vB Code, and can be used on any forum using the vBulletin forum software.

There is also a GUI-friendly way to insert hyperlinks from the editor. Type the text you want, then highlight the word or words you plan to use as a hyperlink. Press the link button on the editor. A box will pop up, and you type the URL in the box.

Here are some images to help:

You may also want to visit this thread under Technical Issues Forum. I surely learned quite a bit about posting from that thread myself.

I had been searching for a good explanation of how to rename hyperlinks. Once again, Flyertalk comes through. Thanks.
