Wireless presenter / laser pointer
Didn't see another thread on this but I just discovered these things and they're cool if you travel a lot and use PowerPoint to present on the road. I don't know how long they've been around, but Targus and Kensington both make them - I found one for less than $20 and for the ease of use and functionality I wouldn't care if I lost one on every trip!!
Plugs into the USB adapter and it pages forward, back, opens the ppt file, etc from up to about 20-30 feet in range. When ever in a different country I never know what type of room set up to expect etc so this little thing is perfect for flexibility to walk around the room / engage the participants without being tied to the computer to hit 'page forward' etc. |

There are applications for cell phones with bluetooth that will let you do the same thing - you'll even also have your notes showing up on your display during each slide. |
I just wish there was a wireless presenter with laser point AND built-in memory! I often give presentations on other people's computers and projection setups and I wish I could just bring this one set to plug in. Sure, a USB thumbdrive is small, but it takes up another USB slot and it's another thing to potentially lose and go wrong. That being said, professionals will also either bring a backup device anyway and/or their own laptop.

I've only used Bluetooth-apps for Symbian devices, but I will check when I get back home if one of them supports Windows Mobile. |
If you have Windows Mobile 5.0 then this is from a thread in January entitled " Combo Laser Pointer/Presenter/Mouse - Do you use them?"

Just a heads-up: if you already have an advanced/smartphone with Bluetooth, if you grab a copy of Salling Clicker you can use it as a remote for PowerPoint. Even better, if it's a PDA/smartphone with a decent size screen and you're using PowerPoint, it can display the notes for each slide on the PDA screen. Versions for both Mac and Windows.

Yep, SallingClicker is the one. It's a great piece of software, and it provides a lot more than just plain PowerPoint support. I also love the way it will fade out the volume in iTunes whenever the phone receives a call. :)

I know over at www.dragonlasers.com they sell great laser pointers and have top service.
Would not recommend anything higher than 5mW for presentations though :D |
