Using my own XBOX with Marriott's OnCommand?

Hey there folks. I just found out about this group and joined. I'm a road warrior. I am gold (or better) at three hotel chains and three airlines. I've been checked into this Marriott Residence Inn since September, but often am staying at another hotel somewhere else at the same time. I'm pondering selling my house as I'm just never there.

Anyway a friend tossed me an XBOX and I figured I'd throw it on my TV here and be able to punch or skate or whatever you do with an XBOX (my last game system was a 2600) whenever the time was right. Sadly the little OnCommand remote doesn't have a TV/VIDEO or VIDEO/INPUT device to allow me to swap things out.

So I nabbed a Universal Remote. Unplugged the phone-like cord running between the OnCommand/TV, and I got it to find the TV (which is a Phillips btw). I can now change channels with a universal. However the INPUT button still doesn't let me select between the various RCA jacks on the front and the back of the TV.

The Wired hack says I can remote the OnCommand box from the equation and get channels otherwise blocked, fine. Maybe free porn, but I'm mostly looking to have my XBOX (and it's DVD player) work here. Ya think removing onCommand is still my next step?

If so, then what? Just gotta break those plastic cylinders that shield the coax or is there some way I can unscrew the connectors without breaking them?

If not then what? Could they have really disabled those inputs in the TV somehow? Do I have to open it up and bring out a soldering iron? Anyone gotten this to work?

Thanks,

a Marriott Rewards Platinum Member in Rocky Hill, CT

Try seeing if the inputs are on channel 0.

Can't get to 0. Probably do to OnCommand at this point.

Update

Well I have by-passed that OnCommand box, but still the same. The INPUT button just flashes the screen, but doesn't give me any other items. My guess is that this is one of those TVs that have been modded. Bah. I guess I need to go into the TV and remove the smart card? :) I am tenacious.

So I guess an RF converter is the way otherwise?
