Will this power inverter work on AA?
 

Traveling to Tokyo on AA soon and want to use my laptop in-flight.

Discovered that I need a cigarette type inverter to connect the AC power adaptor PA-9 with my Dell C610.

Have researched many possibilities and think that the Black & Decker VEC1044BD will work. Specs found at http://www.blackanddecker.com/Produc...roductID=15545

Can an expert please tell me if my thinking is correct and this adaptor will work with an American Airlines power port?

Probably, but the form factor is strange (not sure how well the mechanical fit will be), and you couldn't use it on other airlines with the Empower connector.

I have something that looks like this : http://www.xantrex.com/web/id/235/p/1/pt/5/product.asp (about the same price) that I've used on AA, DL, UA and others.

I would go for something where the plug is on a cord and not part of the unit because power jacks can be everywhere and you may not have clearance to use this all the time around the socket.

If the plug is on a cord you have way more flexibility.

AA only supplies 75 watts. Does your laptop take more than that (my Dell takes 65 watts)? HERE is what I've been using the last 3 years on AA.

One further question: Regarding the fact that AA only supplies 75 watts of power. Does this impact whether I should buy an inverter rated at 80 watts continuous power or 130 watts continuous power, or would both work fine but still only be able to deliver 75 watts because that is all AA is supplying?

Mine is similar in construction to the one the OP linked, and it fits and works on AA (though I have not yet had occasion to use it on a widebody).

I now have a Dell. I used to have an eMachines that drew 90 watts, and the adapter itself would shut off after just a few seconds.

Power Hp (pc628a#aba ) ???
