Nokia E61 Virus Attack render directional control useless

HELP!!! I just experienced the virus attack on my Nokia E61 which renders the directional control button out of function. It just gone on automatic mode, ups and down, ups and down. Did anyone had any experience of this thing happens? Now, I am so desparate without the use of the E61, like an addict without the stuff. Come to think of it, I should install so many outside programs into the system without a meaningful anti-virus protection. For my next brand new E61, I would be very careful.

Thanks, Palal for your quick response. I tried to install the recommended solution but the phone refuse to accept the sis installation. Furthermore, I tried to manually delete the files but then I could not view the System directory even I re-set my Windows setting to view system file. Now, if I ever dare to touch that directional control again, the auto-plilot ups and down movement will continue until I turn off the phone.

What should we do with these kind of people who wrote the nasty programs? I have many programmers working for me in my software company. None of them would ever have thought to do something like this to harm others, just for the ego trip. It is really not that difficult to write those virus programs. Just like it is easy to put poison into the bottle of medicine for some poor soul to pick it up. Either these kind of people are sick or they have such low esteem of themselves in order to get high on someone's pain.

Have you tried resetting your phone?

As for your second question, IMO, the solution is to dramatically increase the penalty for such transgressions.

Not yet. If everything fail, I may need to try this last resort. Ironically, my 2 staff are out to my client's office to disinfest the virus attacking their servers, even with the installed Norton Anti-virus program just a few weeks ago.

Google around a bit... you're probably not the only one with the problem.

How can you be so sure that they're not blackhats by night?
Creation of virii goes back a long way.... and unfortunately nowadays it's more related to financial gain more than anything else.

What you experienced on your cell phone is (most likely) a proof-of-concept virus, that doesn't damage a whole lot.... In your case, the authors were mindful enough not to damage anything, while showing vulnerabilities that are present on your and others' phones. I'm not excusing what they did, but "don't shoot the messenger" may apply here.

Just for the record, Norton is a Piece of $hit, that hogs system resources and doesn't provide adequate protection against viruses.....

Of course this is just viruses. I'm not talking about spyware and other fun stuff like DDOS attacks.....
