Graphic Design Software for Under 16's
My nine year old daughter is showing a real talent for art and design - particularly of clothes, buildings etc. She is also very interested in computers and frequently draws things using the tools in PowerPoint and Word.
So my question is as follows?: Is there a graphic design software package that is aimed at the under 16's that she can start to use - either a specific one or say a student version of something that is a cut-down version of a normal professional version?. With Christmas approaching it's one of the things I'd like to look at for her so any experiences - either good or bad much appreciated. |
Look at some of the graphics tablets; they often come with a scaled down version of expensive design software.
The cheapest Graphire is $99 and comes with Photoshop Elements 3, Corel painter and some plugins. Being able to use the stylus as an airbrush, pencil, pen etc... makes for a really creative solution. I think Sams and/or Costco carry them for under $85. In the UK check your local superstore... Edit, link: http://www.wacom.com/graphire/index.cfm |
you might be surprised how fast she learns professional software, if she has any inclination towards computers in general.
