I found out that my company only allows BlackBerry devices, even though they have Exchange 2003 /SP2 and can turn on the push mail.

Is there any alternative way to wirelessly sync my corp exchange mail, calendar and contacts?

Sign up for an account with 4smartphone.net and set up email retrieval to pull in your corp mail using POP or something. Not exactly elegant, but if they won't turn it on for you, what can you do?

FYI - a buddy of mine told me yesterday that if OWA is enabled, chances are good that pushmail is turned on as well. Just punch in your OWA server name when setting up the handset and see if it will configure itself. It's worth a try.

I think they also have POP3 and IMAP turned off. OWA is setup and works. I can even get to it from the phone's IE. But when I enter the address to configure the Outlook Email on the phone, it gives a 85010004 error. "Your account in MS exchange server does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your exchange admin..." :(

I sent a nastygram to our IT departments suggestion box.

Wow... do you use any third party apps?

Hubby bought a Dash the day they were released. He returned it less than a week later. I couldn't hear him at all when he called, the volume buttons drove him crazy, and he hated its web surfing speed. He decided to wait for the alleged iPod phone of the future. ;)

All the stuff that was installed with it - Office viewers, PDF viewer, WinWAP, plus GPRS Monitor and a ton of Java apps for work.

The phone has never so much as looked at me sideways. It never slows down, it has never locked up or needed a reboot. The same cannot be said for the POS STRTRK that it replaced.

I've used the T-Mobile Dash for about a week now and it is the most solid handheld I have ever used. For ten years I have been a dedicated Palm user. After getting tired of dealing with the bugs in my most recent two PDAs-a Zire 72s and a Treo 650, I decided that it was time to break my habits. My biggest surprise is the high sound quality. It is much better than on my old Treo. As well, I find that the email program is easier to use and the web browser faster (and more compatible) than Blazer, even on EDGE vs EDGE. The calendar feature is not as easy to use and the memo feature is burried. This said, I am surprisingly happy with this device.

That's crazy! It has by far the best phone reception and phone quality of almost any handheld I've ever worked with. I also find the EDGE network speeds to be great! Maybe it was just the area around your home or something?

No, but it might have been a lemon. Honestly, he just didn't care for it for several reasons. He does love the Blackberry Pearl he bought instead, though. I can't seem to convert him to the Dark Side (Sidekick-ville). :D

I have had mine for about 2 weeks now with only one lockup while trying to key lock the phone. Other than that, no problems. I can even get calls and gmail in the Fishtale (if you have been there). I really like this phone!
