Best cell phone plan/provider for email/data ONLY ?

Hi All,

I am plannning on purchasing a seperate pda phone for emails/outlook calendar while keeping my current small cell phone for calls. I will leave the pda device in the car and only need to check it on and off so I do not want to switch to such a large phone full time.

I will be starting a new contract so am not worried about which provider I sign up with,i..e I do not have an allegiance to a particular one. (I am currently with T-mobile for my standard phone).

Any recommendations on who offers the best plan for this situation ?

Thanks
JohnG

You should list the criteria you consider important, such as:
-lowest price
-highest data speed
-widest coverage in US
-international capabilities
-etc.

Wow I gotta say the Treo 700wx from Sprint may fit your needs. I've been a Palm OS guy since the first one came out and thought I would never switch. Its a very fast phone and I am impressed with the stability of WM5.

Pricewise I was attracted to Sprint because they offer low voice minute plans. I dont use the Treo for many calls a month and got the 200 minute plan for $29/mo. Seems like these days most carriers have 500, 1000 plus minutes on their low plan, and thats supposed to be a deal. Well I just dont use that so why would $50 a month or so be attractive to me? I dont need all those minutes. Anyway, I pay $15 for unlimited data on their Vision package on top of that. They have text messages optional too which I may add, 300 for $5 a month.

So @ $44/mo for voice and unlimited data - possibly $5 for 300 texts. I love the phone so far. Outlook is great and the Sprint network is incredibly fast for web surfing. I have had no problems at all with their coverage area.

Price? T-Mobile. Their data is the cheapest by far. Speed+Coverage? Sprint. Their EVDO network has the largest footprint by far of the US 3G services and the fallback is still decent at 70-110Kbps. Note that ALL of T-mobile's coverage is EDGE which is good for 60-160Kbps.
