Laptop Backpack That Doesn't Crease A Suit?
As per the title, I am looking to get a backpack for my T40 Thinkpad that doesn't crease/deform the shoulders of my suits. I currently use a STM Medium Eclipse (http://www.stmbags.com.au/mediumeclipse) and the capacity, features and construction are wonderful, but the shoulders of my suit get squished and I forever look like I just got off a redeye.
So I am considering getting either a Tumi Laptop Brief (http://www.tumi.com/business_laptop_...?modelid=57314) or another backpack that won't crumple the suit. I have heard good things about the Booq Boa XM (http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=363), anyone have one of these or a recommended backpack? |
i like this one: http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/st...ductId=8718822
and its not so big. here is one on the AU site: http://www-604.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/st...uctId=33037045 |
I've heard good things about the booq backpacks, but no personal information. Suits are rough. The only time I haven't creased it a bit is in a garment bag. FWIW, hanging it in the bathroom when you take a shower can help.

I was more going for avoiding creases whilst wearing the suit, rather than transporting the suit. I'll continue my search but for now the STM will suffice I guess :(

You can also get a wheeled bag. |
Backpacks easily mess up my ordinary casual clothes, not even considering a suit jacket.
This is a somewhat unusual combination, seems to me. My first thought, not meaning offense just smiling, was "Why do you want to wear a backpack with a suit?" :D Most people traveling wearing suits seem to carry their stuff some other way (rolling cases, briefcases, etc.), and most people traveling wearing backpacks don't seem to be wearing suits. This doesn't mean you can't find a backpack that works, but I think it will be difficult. |
I've got the Briggs & Riley Vertical Computer Brief/Backpack. When wearing a linen or silk blouse (read: wrinkle-prone) I don't have much problem with it as long as I take care when slinging it on my shoulders. The straps are wide and well-padded. The bag comes with a second strap to carry the bag slung over just one shoulder. I love it!

I have the leather version of this:
http://www.briggs-riley.com/travel/@...erbackpack.asp (sorry cannot find a link to the leather version). Very comfortable to wear, and does not mess up a suit. I do a lot of business in Japan where you spend a lot of time on the trains or walking between meetings, and a backpack is very convienient vs. a regular computer bag (your shoulder gets tired after a while), or a rollaround (more difficult to navigate up and down stairs, over bumps, etc.). I paid the extra dollars and got the leather version, because it looks a lot more professional to bring a nice leather backpack into a business meeting rather than a cloth one. |

Sadly, casual is not an option. |
