Website mirroring software
I am looking for a website mirroring software, does anyone know of a good one that can be recommended?

There are companies out there (i.e. Akamai) that will clone your website across the world. This is to handle load and improve redundancy.
If you just want to suck down a website by spidering through all the webpages I use the Linux utility wget. I did a quick Google search and there is a port to Windows available. If it is something quick, I'd be happy to do the wget and email you the website zip'd up. |
The best IMHO: http://www.httrack.com/

second vote for httrack if all you want is a copy of the website.

Thank you all for your offers and quick responses ^ .
I need something to easily backup my own SeatExpert.com site. I accidentally broke my 5GB Toshiba PC Card hard disk used for backing up important stuff  , and knew that I should have just burnt DVDs instead. Anyway, my (simple and previously reliable) method of grabbing my site through FTP has been stopping and give me connection errors repeatedly, and I am tired of having to figure out what was and was not FTP'ed and restarting the process. Httrack appears to be just what I needed, being able to resume interrupted downloads. FT and its great members came to my rescue once again! |
For future safety, Jet2K, you may like to check out HTTPAfterburner and save multiple copies of your site on multiple locations. I admit, it's not cheap, but it's certainly saved my bacon having my website hosted in two countries.

Double check whatever you get, many of them change all the links to your local drive (since that's where everything is stored) and if you are using it to reload something you may need to go in and manually change all of those back. That's no fun.
