Hotel wireless help

I've been at way too many hotels with bad wireless reception. Some hotels you have to be huddled by the room door just to connect. Has anyone been able to setup a bridge/repeater/router (name?) say by the door just to get better reception while further into the room while sitting on the bed/chair/couch. I did se the D-Link DWL-G730AP was highly rated as router but not sure if this will do it.

Have you tried a different wireless NIC?

I have a couple of Dlink DWL-G650 NIC's that I use in my laptops. This model gets great reception for me.

Getting a different NIC could help a lot. The Cisco NICs are amazing and can support an external antenna...they are expensive, but you can get one on ebay.

A nother option may be something like an Apple Airport Express and use it to extend the signal. You lose some speed by doing that, but I'm sure you wont notice since most hotels are at like 1020k at best.
