TomTom Go 910 GPS

Has it been released. I see a couple of places advertising it at $799 with free shipping but no one seems to have it in stock. Is $799 the best price?

Should be getting released to retailers next week. If the TomTom set MSRP is $799 then street prices should be around $725 within a month or so...

Most GPS retailers have it set for the end of April. I suspect the first ones will have them this week, but at retail ($799) or even higher.

Excited to hear the release date intel. I'm really looking forward to seeing the TomTom GO 910 in stores-- the pre-loaded US and Europe maps is really appealing to me.

I can use the device stateside (home) and then have it all set for travel across the pond without having to worry about which software to buy and spending time on an install while I'm trying to pack.

Pricing

Was told that pricing to mail order dealers not as favorable as to traditional retailers so not to expect much in the way of discounts for a while. One large GPS seller said that they were not going to carry it. Best I can find is $799 with no shipping fees.

I think that is correct, I got my GO at Circuit City of all places, they put them on sale once in a month or so, and sold me mine for a good $150 lower than most online retailers. TomTom better get their act together with this, they have an amazing product with the potential of kicking Garmin out of that segment of the market, unless they screw it up with their weird pricing.

Compared to the similarly priced Nuvi, the Go 910 is amazing. Add the optional iPod dock cable and it turns the Go into a fullblown car computer styled device.

Yes, the iPod connectivity is great. I'm also excited about the TomTom buddies, anyone else heard about this feature? Basically it lets you communicate over the TomTom GO 910 device to other people who have the TomTom.
