I bought an iGo power unit, and when I bought the adapter for my Dell laptop there was a note that the unit doesn't charge the battery. Am I correct to assume that my battery won't drain while I use the unit? Does this unit bypass the battery?

I don't think it's powerful enough -- 15W or something in that range.
