A PDA for a lenghty trip!
Hi all, I am just after some advice.
I am going to be going backpacking and traveling again next year in Europe. My question is has anyone ever taken their PDA with them to say use for getting location information, maps, even for calculating their budget. If so what is a decent PDA choice? Obviously I am going to need something a little stronger than normal. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |
I'd love to get this info too - some people on the big trails in the US (Pacific Coast Trail, etc) use the Sharp portable PDA thing - you can get them on eBay for about $50 or so, they run for about a month off 2 AA batteries, but they are definitely bigger than a Palm. It was more of a email terminal, which a built in acoustic modem to use at payphones. People swear by them even though they are pretty old, technology-wise.
The old Palm III ran off AAA batteries and seemed to last a long time. Everything now has lots of color and whatnot and doesn't seem to go long between charges, but somebody must know of something out there. |
