Anyone else been having problems with Safari in re: to webpage loading times? I have become very familiar with the beach ball. I have a brand new IBook. I have emptied the cash and stuff that is posted on apple support. Any other insight?

Lots of people think Safari is just slow, overall. Many of them just use another browser (like Opera, for example), and are pleased with the performace boost they see.

Safari generally gets very very slow after a while because of the cache
of all the website icons. I find that it helps to 1) QUIT safari and then
manually delete the icon cache from a terminal window:

rm -r ~/Library/Safari/Icons/

Another known Safari slower are the cookies. Delete all cookies to also
make stuff a bit faster. (You'll loose all your 'remember me' settings
though!)

I think it would be better to "Reset Safari".

A restart also helps too. If you haven't restarted in awhile, all system processes slow down and there is more use of virtual memory.

You could check by executing uptime in Terminal. Or check top (Control C to terminate).

The higher the load numbers, the slower the system.
