Recommendations on AA rechargeable batteries for Digicam??
I just got a new digital camera, Canon A510. Really like it, and with the LCD display turned off gets pretty decent time on the two AA batteries powering the thing. But I understand that it's better to get some of the new 2400-2600 mAH NiMH batteries. As I travel quite a bit I'm interested in a easy to use, somewhat portable situation. Anyone have a specific recommendations?
I did some search on the web and found some useful information here |
Don't know if this is what you are looking for: I get AA nimhs from here:
http://www.zbattery.com/zbattery/aar...batteries.html I also have a charger similar to this one where the plugs fold down flat when not in use and can charge other AAA and 9V batteries too. I carry 9V as spares for my cell phone. http://www.zbattery.com/pro99.html |
I have this one. It works fine. Batteryspace's prices seem to be reasonable.

Costco sells a Panasonic quick-recharger (worldwide voltage) + batteries pack (AA and AAA) for something like $19.00 and is a great deal.
I have seen Eveready 2500mAH AA's at Wal-Mart. |
1. Don't buyanything less than 2300mAH, go for the maxas it makes a big difference, as long as the brand is reputable they are all pretty much the same.
2. Buy the fastest charger you can, I got the 20 minute quick charger from GP last year and its great. It used to take me 4 hours to charge 1600mAh batteries, now I do 2500's in less than 20 minutes. With my last camera a Pentax, one set of 2500's lasted me 6 months in which time I filled up 3GB's of cards. Pretty impressive. |
I just picked up some more at BJ's the warehouse clubs seem to have the absolute best prices for walk in and pick up. Yo can do the pack of charger, 4 aa's and 2 aaa's for like $20, or six aa's for $10 or so. They were 2300's.

I have been very happy with both Kodak batteries and chargers from Amazon and with batteries from www.greenbatteries.com.

These batteries and charger are really excellent: http://ripvan100.com/.

Wow, two great websites, thanks!!

Bit late to this party, but I have the charger from RipVan100.com linked above. Got the JetCell batteries, whatever the top capacity was at the time a couple years ago (I think it was 2100mAh). They sell them packaged together for a good deal. For a 2AA camera you can just get a package with 4AAs and you can have one set charging and the other set in the camera.
Most chargers are either compact and "stupid" (thus wearing out your batteries faster and getting less run time per charge) or "smart" (microprocessor controlled) but bulky. The one from RipVan100.com is one of the few that is both smart and compact. It's also good for worldwide voltage. All you need is a plug adapter. |
I've had good luck ordering batteries (and a charger) from Thomas Distributing
