SMS with Blackberry?
 

I can't figure out how to SMS on my Blackberry. I see the PINs, but that's network to network. What am I missing?

What Blackberry, what provider. On mine (7720 on Tmobile) I can bring up a contact and one of the menu choices is send SMS.


I think on the send menu there is a choice for it as well, when no contact is showing yet.

I've got 7520 with Nextel.

I have it on my Verizon Blackberry.

When i bring up a contact i choose from

Email contact
Call contact
SMS contact

The Nextel site (and Google) are so handy:

Q: Do the Nextel handhelds have text-messaging capability?
A: Yes. You can use your Nextel handheld to send BlackBerry PIN-to-PIN messages and to receive SMS messages. You also receive text messages but as SMS messages.
At this time, you cannot reply to text messages. However, you can send messages to Nextel Text Messaging customers by emailing them at ##########@messaging.nextel.com (########## represents their phone number).

Oh, and another option for sending SMS to ANY operator is to send it to [email protected]. The Nextel network doesn't "do" regular SMS like the rest of the world...
