Flyertalk URL for a Black Berry
Is there another URL to get to FT from a BB?
|
|
Looks like I need to do some more reading of the BB manual. I can see things like MilesBuzz, and a list of page numbers, but can't actually read any postings.

Middle_Seat,
That's the same problem I have. Could be the older browser (3.7.x) on my unit. Craig |
What is a good Blackberry Browser? My new employer just gave me a Nextel BB 7520, and I'm kind of less than impressed with the included browser.

the browser is teh sux. terrible. but i don't really need the browser so...shrug...

If you have a T-mobile blackberry and are still on an OS < version 4.0 then head over to www.blackberryforums.com and do a search for the "RBRO hack", it is a quick configuration that changes the browser from WAP only to WAP and HTML.
Out of the box a T-mobile handheld won't do HTML pages correctly (or at all). |
I'm using AT&T/Cingular :(

In your browser, go to Options then type R B R O You should see a new menu item appear. Go to "Browser options" I think it is called "browsing mode", it will be set to "WML Only", change it to "unconstrained". Click the wheel and save the options... |
I had the opposite problem. I could browse FT just fine with 3.7 (AT&T Wireless with a separate MDS), but since upgrading to 4.0, FlyerTalk is unusable due to all the javascript that the blackberry now understands and wastes time loading.

But what I find is that while many sites are really slow with javascript enabled, many are unusable with it disabled. The ideal solution would be for all major websites to provide a handheld friendly version (see google.com/xhtml for an example) that would not use javascript, excess graphics, etc. But since spg.com, ua.com and various other travel sites are not extremely responsive to customer's wants and needs, the solution is going to need to come from the device itself. It would be nice if the BB allowed multiple instances of the browser with different configurations (e.g. fast bare bones, as well as javascript enabled), or even better provide a shortcut to enable disable javascript support. The ability to keep a list of certain pages/sites that should or should not make use of certain features would probably be best, although a major pain for the user to set up. |
I used to read and post to FT all the time from my old 950. It just ignored all the images and java stuff giving me only the text. It was about as fast as dial-up from home!
Now with my new 7290 it's just too much of a pain. The archive link given above is not bad, although for some reason it's displaying the posts in reverse-date order. The first time I used it I thought they were latest-first. |
I hope i never figure out how to get to FT on my 7290/Cingular. That last shred of productivity will be shot!
(Just for grins...Does that R B R O trick work?) |
The RBRO hack does not work on V4 Blackberry software.
