Laptop connection to Phone while in Japan
 

I know of the issues of U.S. phones in Japan. But I'm wondering if anyone has ever used a Japanese phone to connect to a laptop as a modem and make an internet connection using a laptop.

Most Japanese phones have data capability so this seems likely but I have never read of anyone being successful at it.

I'm traveling to Japan and need to have a convenient way to connect my laptop to the internet. Availability of land line isn't always possible so a cell phone would be great if that is possible.

Anyone ever connect to the internet using a Japanese cell phone and your laptop?
