Shure E5C

I absolutely love my shure e5c's. Even on the noisiest flights I still can hear the highest highs and lowest lows of my mp3s. There are songs I thought I knew by heart that I have heard things in them that I didn't know were there! No wonder all of the Music Artists use these! I had them in the other day while watching a movie and a loudspeaker about 10 feet away from my head and while I had the e5C's in my ears I COULD NOT HEAR THE OUTSIDE NOISE coming from the speaker! I was shocked! I am not a fan of BOSE as they are all high's and no lows.

Yes they are not cheap but they are well worth the money and size. I am trying to scale down my onboard Tumi backpack to smaller/lighter size. Currently have two ipods (one color, one 3g) 2 external HD's (firewire small portable), 12'' Apple Powerbook, a reading book, and a few cables and paperwork (what happened to the paperless office?)

I started with a set of E2's.... and loved them. Moved up to the E3C's when they came out and I won't turn back (tried Etomyc's and others but they just didn't cut it for me).

I would like to have a set of E5's, but just can't get to the $400 difference in price from the E3's. The improvement in sound isn't with quite that much to me.

I bougth the EC2's and loved them. Shure has a 30 day no questions return policy and so I ordered the EC5's. I was willing to pay the difference if the sound was that much better.

I didn't think it was so much better ... especiallly when there was some ambient noise.

So back the EC2's without regrets.

Best wishes,

I bought the e5c's 2 months ago to replace my bose QC2s. The bose are collecting dust now - no way am I going back to them. I go into my own little world wearing these things. On flights FA's have to tap me on the shoulder now for drink service or I don't even notice them.

As for sound quality, I find the the e5c's to be excellent. I'm going back to some of my favorite music and hearing imaging and sounds that I never heard before. (although AAC 128 on iTunes leaves a lot to be desired!).

highly recommended to anybody considering...

Shure really has a winner with their headphones, I am starting to see fewer Bose QC's on flights and more EC's now :)

Has anyone else compared the e2,e3,e4(?), to the e5? What is the difference?

What about all those people I see wearing their Bluetooth cell phone headsets 24/7? They won't be able to use the Shures... :(
