Time Reporting Software
 

I didn't know where else to post this but FT seems to have a few consultants amongst its members. I am looking for a time reporting program that will allow the tracking of time and expense charged to client projects. The program should be similar to those used by accounting and law firms but for a 10 person outfit with a limited budget. Please move to the proper forum if this is not the right place.

Timeslips is the most economical short-term solution. Problem with it is you will end up doing a lot of double entry work (Timeslips plus your accounting software). I ran a consulting firm that reached 45 employees when we sold it. We just managed at that size and were looking for a more integrated solution (something involving MS Business Solutions, formerly Great Plains, and custom time management module).

You might want to take a look at Journix.

I don't know much about it... I think one of my SO's former co-workers started it.

My SO is a consultant, btw. I think he mainly uses his palm for keeping track of time and expenses. I'll ask him what else he uses and report back.

Just about all of the major Time & Billing software has a Palm component. All of my consultants were using Timeslips with Palm back in 2000, and it worked perfectly.

We use an in-house web based solution.

Very simple, but effective

We use CarpeDiem CD Tracker for our timekeeping. It can be used on a laptop and then sync-up via the internet.

While I have never used them, there are also web based T&E solutions available. Here are a couple examples:
