Digital Camera under $200

Anybody have any suggestions in regards to a decent digital camera under $200? I had a Olympus D-370 that I loved, but it fell and the shutter is frozen shut, hence it is inoperable. This was a great camera, because it was a "plug and play" basically and the camera itself served as a drive for super easy download capability. I'm not that technologically challenged, but prefer the simplicity of something similiar to my old friend. Looking forward to your suggestions.

I would have thought that this is a standard feature on just about any digital camera with a USB interface nowadays, given that you're running WinXP or some recent version of MacOS.

On the other hand, I just use a little USB card reader for this task. Small enough to pack - even smaller than a rolled-up USB cable.

Are there any specific features you like or must have? There's quite a few good cameras out there in that range.

If you can swing $250, the Canon SD200 is a kick butt 3.2mp camera:

  • First in the PowerShot line to use a DIGIC II Image Processor
  • New large 2.0-inch LCD screen for easy image preview and playback
  • New Scene Modes including Digital Macro Mode to widen shooting capabilities

Canon PowerShot A75

Steve's DigiCam's Review

DCRP Review

3.2 megapixel. I just bought one for my wife 3 weeks ago for 169.00 and it has to be one of the best, most flexible for the money. Great software too. It does stuff way easier than my $1000 (at the time) Nikon 5700. I highly recommend it.

There's a great link at the end of Steve's review for rechargeable NiMH batteries too. ^

for the money, get the A85

I just bought the A85 for my nephew, have had many other A's before, and Canons.

It was 199.00 from Dell, shipped. Look to techbargains for the 15% off code and the 25-35 off 250$ deal.
