Charging an iPod Mini overseas

Sorry if this has already been answered, I tried a search & couldn't find anything. My question is if anyone knows if the iPod mini (US Version) is able to be recharged in Asia (Thailand & Japan, specificially) using the stock equipment with an outlet adapter?

In other words, will my iPod fry if I plug into an Asian plug?

Thanks in advance!

1) charge through your PowerBook or iBook
2) buy a USD$2 plug for your adapter and then plug it in to an outlet in thailand or japan.

even though the voltages are all different from asia to north america to europe, the ipod's power adapter automatically works.

Thanks - I've got a plug adapter, so that should work!

Make sure it takes the higher voltage. This should be listed on the AC device.

If you want to get fancy, you can get the world travel adapter kit from Apple.

You may have noticed that the part of your adapter square that plugs into the wall can come off. There's a seam at the corner with the plug. This part pulls off. The kit from apple has plugs for other countries that fit flush in that corner.

A regular plug adapter will work just as well though. :)

Something I discovered after I had bought the World Travel kit... If you pull off the plug part, it exposes a 2 pin input which is the same as the standard 2 pin AC input that is used on cassette players, etc. You can just plug the cord from a cassette player straight onto the adaptor.

There shouldn't be any problem with voltage either (assuming Apple have a standard charger globally). The charger is multi-voltage and adjusts to whatever is input to it - I've plugged mine in all over the world.

I also just noticed that it is Thailand and Japan that you're interested in. Japan has the same voltage and sockets as the US so no problem at all for you there. In Thailand, we have 220V but most places have Euro and US sockets - many of the sockets are a combination that will take a Euro plug or a US plug. If those are the only 2 countries you are going to, you can just take your standard iPod charger without any outlet adapters. ^

I've been charging mine with the stock adapter in SIN for months without any problems. I'm using a power strip with a built-in plug adapter. Minis rock! :)

I have been charging mine here in Switzerland for the past week. Funny thing is, the charges don't seem to last as long.

Is foreign electricity as good as what we get in America? ;)

Best wishes,
