Mozilla is GREAT!

I think that's "always starting in the same place". I want "start where I left off"

Have tried FireFox many times, I just don't quite like it, still using Avant Browser.

I know I'm in the minority, but I still prefer Netscape. That "New Tab" button just to the left of the first tab is just so useful that not having it bugs me whenever I use Mozilla or Phoenix/Firefox.

Ctrl-T opens a new tab in FireFox. I use it all the time.

Even more useful, though, is when you click any URL, Bookmark, or Favorite, hold Ctrl when you click, and the URL/Bookmark/Favorite opens in a new tab.

I'd repeat a bunch more keystrokes, (such as Ctrl-n, changes focus to the n-th Tab), but they are nicely summarized here: Firefox Help - Keyboard Shortcuts. This shows a very useful comparison to the equivalent keystrokes in IE or Opera, so if there's something you can do in one browser, this matrix shows you how to do it in the two other browsers.

It's quite easy to add a "New Tab" button to your Navigation bar in FireFox. Right-click on the navigation bar, click "Customize", then drag the New Tab button to your preferred location.

As NS is developed from the same code base, or some semblance of it, all of those shortcuts also work in NS. I'll look through the others and see if there are other differences, and whether they are worth it. In the past, a new version of NS has followed a Mozilla release, with the upgraded features, within a week or two.

Adding New Tabs and Bookmarks through customizing the toolbar gets close, but NS puts the "New Tab" next to the first tab and "Bookmarks" next the bookmarks, not in the toolbar with everything else. Close enough that it's personal preference and what you're used to. In the end, they're both "Not IE". :)

You have to re-install the plug-in for Firefox. That also goes for anything Macromedia.

pseudoswede: thanks

I'll do it and see how she goes. Otherwise, I think Firefox is just outstanding! ^ ^ ^ ^

Actually, I believe you can pretty much position the tabs where you want when customizing the toolbars in Firefox. For example, to increase viewing area on my laptop display, I have some of the navigation buttons and the address window all combined up on the top toolbar (the one that also has File, Edit, View Go, etc.), and in the toolbar below that, I have the Google window, new tab button, reload button, and bookmarks toolbar, all together on that second toolbar and that's it. Gives me a little more room for viewing web pages.

Three observations so far on Firefox.

1) Web pages open faster than IE6.

2) My autoscroll function on my mouse has slowed down to the point where it is no longer useful. Has anyone else encountered this?

3) I used ieSpell as my spell check program for web based sites like FT and Hotmail. Does Firefox have a similar spell check program available for web based applications?

I just downloaded Firefox for my Mac. Seems OK so far. One question...does Firefox have the "Forms Autofill" ability as does IE and Safari? I can't seem to locate one and this will be a knockout punch if it doesn't.
Thanks...

Dictionary search?

I downloaded the dictionary search extension function but I don't know how to access it to use it. Is there a way to move an icon to a tool bar or are there command keys?

I have been using Opera for several years and it just crashed one time to many so I'm testing Firefox. It's pretty good, and it doesn't crash, and so far hasn't been rejected by Fidelity and Hilton who don't much like Opera.

Cholula,

I downloaded the plug-in "AutoForm" for Firefox and it has been working just fine to automatically fill typical web forms. There are some neat features such as the ability to not save a particular form's data ... and also some configuration so it fills out only what you want it to fill out.

You can get to it by visiting the plug-ins section on the Firefox website.

Hope that helps :)
