I-Pod Prices
I just did a quick comparison and noted that at HKG the prices is the same (actually 0.5USD CHEAPER) than the Apple.com (USA Site).
I heard that sometimes at the actual Apple store they sell it cheaper and have some special deals? Is this true? For the 40GB I-Pod roughly how much is it in USA? Also will the US have more accesories? |
AFAIK the Apple stores never sell them cheper, the online Apple store sometimes has refurbished models for less.
The only place I've ever seen cheaper ipods is at Target, they often have $25 off deals on them. Pretty much every other store excludes the ipod in any %-off promos they have. |

However I think the HKG price will be better. Given there are no tax the price at todays exchange rate = 398.50USD. I guess I will jsut get the accesories then in NYC. |

But, as for best prices, I think now that Staples sells the HP ipods, one can use the various coupons, 30 off 150, or 50 or 250.00 to get a pretty nice price. And, 2% AMEX cash back from Staples makes it just a bit cheaper. no shipping costs either. |
I saved $100 on my 30gb last year. I bought it when Dell was selling them, and was able to use some coupons.
Now, Target is your best bet. Or, if you know someone who is a student at a University, it could save you a few bucks. |
I usually check out macprices.com for information regarding Apple stuff:
They also track prices for the iPod: http://www.macprices.com/ipodtracker.shtml It also tells you which states would pay taxes. Hope this helps. |
wait for this new SWEET

Almost every other week I get an e-mail from Target with a 10% store-wide coupon code. It works on iPods and results in free shipping and $40 off the 40GB iPod. The kicker is that target.com (unlike Amazon.com) charges tax. So for example, my total is $399.99 - $40 (10%) + $18 tax = $377.99. The coupon code can't be used on Amazon.com so you can't get around the tax that way. The e-mail I got on the 26th has the following code and small print: Save 10%** on your Target.com order. Enter promotion code TCTENPLUS4U2 at checkout to receive discount. **Discount not applicable to GiftCards, e-GiftCards, gift wrap, tax, or shipping and handling charges. May not be combined with other promotional offers or discounts or applied to previous orders. Offer available for Target.com orders only and does not apply to partner businesses, custom clothing or Amazon.com product purchases. Discount not available when using 1-ClickŪ ordering online. 1-Click is a registered trademark of Amazon.com, Inc. Offer expires 10/29/04. It is only 10% but as you can see there are no real restrictions. Just the standard gift card, tax and s&h ones. Still better than nothing, I guess. :) |

Canada, eh ?
I've bought Apple products on both sides of the 49th and have found that it is quite possible to get cheaper Apple products in Canada even with the relatively poor exchange rate.

Try pricegrabber.com.
There are a few places that seem to discount them a bit. The target deal seems like the best deal from a reputable place though. Check sites like dealcatcher.com for the latest 10% off coupon number. The one that's there now is TCHAPPYTEN4U and expires on 10/31 (today). What's the difference between the HP branded ipod and the non-HP branded ipod? Looks like the HP version comes formatted for the pc. Is there really a difference in the formatting? And if there is, why would anybody care? -David |
Ipod
Hi
I am trying this site that says you can win a free ipod if you refer 5 friends. Here is my link with my reference info. I signed up for the ancestory.com one because you can send the email to cancel it immeadiately. http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=11304487 So if you want to try it, I would really appreciate it if you did it through my link. (Want to give my brother the ipod for Christmas.) Thanks! Molly |
The HP iPod is exactly the same, except there is an HP logo etched on the back, along with the Apple logo, and the packaging is different. The support for HP iPods is handled by HP, no Apple. I'm not sure if there is a difference in the level of support offered.
There is no Windows formatted iPod. All current model iPods work for Windows and Mac platforms.
