Good AT&T Wireless Plan
Well I just got ATT, and my plan is GSM Local or you can do GSM America with 900 anytime minutes, and after 7PM unlimited calling M-F (also weekends) and free Mobile to Mobile calling for 59.99 this is with two lines… So I decided to get it and got the Samsung x46 free… But with my plan, since its local I get 1050 minutes for the same price…
SO far I’ve tested the service here in NJ and also NYC… And I must say the service is pretty good… I didn’t think ATT would be good, but I was wrong… Anyone here have AT&T Wireless? If so how is the service? |
AT&T service has definitely improved in the last couple of years. Their customer service is still horible, though. I wonder what will happen this fall when the buyout by Cingular goes through?

Since AT&T has started GSM in LA, my reception has improved greatly. I can actually talk on the phone inside my house!
I get the most use out of the no roaming fees in the US and pay for the international roaming. Every once in a while I see CINGULAR on my phone display and it's just sitting next to me when I am laying out in the sun. I asked AT&T about it and they told me not to worry. |
If you have AT&T GSM service there now is no charge for roaming on any other GSM carriers. So, if Cingular has a stronger signal you may roam onto them but can still make calls exactly as if you were using AT&T.
I've used AT&T in Manhattan and it seems to be pretty good. |
I've been using their GSM for a bit over a year now in the New Yrok/Connecticut areas. At the time the local store said I would be much happier with a GSM/disital/analog phone because of coverage holes, they were right, there are many places I don't have a GSM signal (even in the middle of Manhattan), but I've never not been able to make a call other then in places you would expect it like subways.
I've been bery happy, both domestic and international with it (take the SIMM out and put it in a triband phone) |
actually, almost

I've used AT&T in Manhattan and it seems to be pretty good. As for just like ATT, remember though in your home area, say area code 415 or 212, you do not have to dial an area code to connect, just seven digits, so you might have only seven digits programmed in your phone book, but while roaming on cingular, they authorize access, but dont' know your home zone, so you will have to dial area codes to connect. This is not very clear and people think they cannot connect when they get the fast busy, or other no connection signal. It seems strange sometimes to dial your home area code, to call HOME while in your HOME area, but that is what is necessary. |
Personally I hate AT&T and actually dropped them about a year ago. Personally I would have to say Verizon's the best but as far as what i've got -- I've got a Nextel. Free Incoming Calls save my butt from high monthly bills. No roaming and works in all the major city's and generally anywhere you'd go although I wish they would expand more but they are -- slowly but surely. Great custumer service just make sure you buy a newer modeled phone unless you want constant headaches.
But I guess AT&T isn't bad in the metra area's -- just thier suburben/country-side coverage is abysmal in my experiance and of course the horid custumer service. |

QUOTE] I would personnaly say that Verizon only has CDMa and CDMa phones, and CDMA phones suck in my personal opinon. The new ATT network is quite decent. Transition to cingular is smmmmoth. Very soon every major jurisdiction in USA will require hands free when driving. Blue tooth is really nice for this ap. No CDMa phone does bluetooth. only the computers. I have verizon today. good network. crummy phones. A phone is a phone. not a camera, not a radio. I bought a Nokia 6620. Should have it next week. Look at the bonuses on the ATT GSM plans. The bonus tends to get larger and larger as we approach the end of the month, and we have not yet met quota(sound familiar?). $39.95 for anytime 350 min $5 discount, and 200 anytime bonus minutes. follow the bouncing bonus. order near the end of the month. Call for adjustment if it goes up. |

New Treo 650 will be CMDA and do bluetooth. There are also a couple of nokias that do CMDA and bluetooth |

Makes me laugh to see the words "good" and "ATT" in the same sentence.

I think I got in on a very short window of opportunity to get my AT&T GSM deal. For $99/month, I have unlimited minutes. My 2-years expires in OCtober, so I'm wondering if my plan goes back to 2000 minutes, but they told me I would keep it as long as I kept the phone, but I've heard lots of salesman promises before.
They are pretty good overall. I have very few service problems. I was upset at this whole conversion to 850 from 900 after selling me a 900 MHz phone (T68i), and then they tried to stick me with that piece of crap replacement that would work on 850. Although, I was probably most upset because the announcement came 2 days after I bought a Nokia 6600 900/1800/1900 for $450 from a third party and was stuck with it. |
