Quick note on PlaneQuiets
 

I loaned a set to my sister for EWR-ORD in a 'real' jet, ORD-OKC in a regional; she'll probaby own 2 pair in a few weeks' time. Our sis-in-law used them for 10 minutes in the car (with 'engineered' wind noise) and will also own a pair soon.

The more I use them, the more I like them, especially at $143 & change for 2 pair, expedited delivery.

Interesting... I was thinking of picking up a pair of these myself.

How are they in terms of fit/finish/quality?

Mine fit several different people comfortably, and seem well-made, although only a few weeks' experience isn't much of a test.

I'd prefer to see a different plug-end (they have a single plug in line with the cord, and a double plug at right angle to it). The set is shipped with a splitter to share extra components.

Performance is quite good. On an old 727-200 without secondary sound source, if ambient flight noise is 10, the PQ's reduce it to about 6 without powering up and to 3 with power on, same effect in rows 5 and 19. Adding an MP3 or CD player, or plugging into the aircraft system would seem to virtually eliminate wind & engine noise.

Conversation may require adjusting an ear cup, but I prefer to sleep or read. That's why I bought a pair for my wife :D

Bose owners surely have equal or better performance, but they also paid about $300/pair.

Not me . . . Marriott Rewards points paid for mine :)

And a note: a recent post here seems to state that the PlaneQuiets may be no more, at least in the form that their proponents have been promoting. The "latest" version of the headphones appear to be rebranded Jensen JNC50s . . . ick.

I tried the Plane Quiets and was very disapointed. Bose QC2 is the best and expensive. Brookstone has a model for $100 that is almost as good as bose and leaps and bounds above plane quiet.

Yikes... Hope the above story isn't generally indicative of how things are going at PQ these days.

Anyone know if Brookstone has their NC headphones in-store? It'd be nice to be able to take a look at them before ordering.
