computer games on long flights?

I got a longish flight coming up (14.5 hours) and it occurred to me that maybe a good computer game might keep me occupied for a chunk of it.

The thing of it is, I don't really play computer games. Can any of you guys recommend something that's easy to play in terms of handling bumps (I was thinking Tiger Woods golf but it occured to me that playing with the touchpad and turbulence might make making par a little tricky).

Thanks all!

Flight Simulator 2004 (if your laptop can handle it)

My Favorite Logic Game

Not too much action on this one, but I love playing Kaser Software's Sherlock. It's a logic puzzle like you may have seen as a kid. "Mr. Smith lives to the left of the Blue house; the Lexus is parked at the Red house and is not owned by Mr. Jones." That sort of thing.

Long campaign-based games, like Age of Empires.

Don't know how old you are but I grew up in the era when coin-op video games RULED (Ms. Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, Galaga, etc.)! There's software out there emulates these games. Finding the actual ROMS (game images) is rather difficult but it's worth it.

I've passed many hours on flights playing with other passengers who remembered when video games were simple.

Don't get me wrong, I love my modern games but sometimes you don't want to have to read a 100 page manual just to have a little fun.

Warcraft

Starcraft

Why not watch an entire season of The Sopranos, or 24- Or the Lord of the Rings trilogy on DVD?

You can pick up these games at Sams Club in the Atari Arcade compilation for $9.95

Civilization (the original one) can keep you going for hours is very low resource dependent and actually educational as well as fun. Build your own empire and crush/take over those around you.

If travelling with a mate (and another laptop) try Halflife in deathmatch mode, can play that for hours, and never get bored. There is also the adventure/shoot em up game if on your own but haven't played that personally.

You're right, I forgot about that. M.A.M.E. is for when you want to seek out the obscure games that Atari doesn't carry.
