have done it, better with LT

I have done this a couple of times, when I know that I won't be doing much document editing, or wanting to watch DVD's.

I have a couple of pop3 mail accounts, which are easy enough to access when I get a connection.

I can usually get a connection where I am staying, or just in the neighborhoods nearby a hotel, or towns. If that doesn't work, I have the 20$ a month t-mobile account which gives me access.

getting exchange mail is a bit harder if you company is not setup with a mobile information server. In the case they are not, they you HAVE to leave your desktop up an running with outlook open, and then you can sync back to your desktop with the proper WINS address, IP address and such. I use a IP application which mails me my new IP address everytime it changes, since I have a dynamic account with SBC. there would be no other way to get into your account, unless you use a desktop at work for example which would most likely have a static account. In that case, leave that system runnin.

I use the ppc for GPS, so I always have it with me anyway.

I do the occasional excel editing, and reviewing. Key is to have your calender update if you are trying to stay connected to work. the ppc outlook will do meeting request updates and such, so that is nice.

As for webbrowsing, I use a secondary IE browser, that allows multiple windows to remain open. With a good wifi connection this is not a problem. I continue to track ebay auctions, buy airlines tickets, get webmail, like yahoo and hotmail. Gmail does not work correctily yet, but you can trick it with a tweaksUI hack.

pretty much everything else is fine, a bit slower and smaller on the screen.

If you really want to watch DVDs, I have ripped them with DVD to PocketPC, and carried them on my toshiba 2 GB CF card, so you can carry about 4-5 movies at most. Not TOO bad on the small screen, eats power though, so you won't get through a plane flight without additional power.

I wore out the keyboard on my Toshiba and replaced it for about $89! The repair guy said he replaces these all the time.
