using laptops in movement
Im a little worried about a recent practice of mine. Im using my laptop in back seats of cars quite a bit, and am concerned that the constant writing to the HDD while my vehicle is challenging the pothole filled streets of CGK will cause some damage. It can get quite bumpy at times.
Do I need to worry about this? I have a IBM ThinkPad T30 with a 60GB HDD. |
I've seen warnings against it before, but I've always ignored them. So far, I've never had a problem and I've done it for years and years.

Wont be too much of a problem, as long as the laptop is on a seat or someones lap then the G's won't be of any impact on the drive...
|
Backup the data a bit more frequently if you think it's an issue, but other then that probably not a problem at all. The drives can take quite a beating, probably more then the rest of the machine can.

HDD's can take far more g's than you can. Dont worry about it.
