Smartphone doesn't work without SIM!?
 
So my SE P900 arrives this morning, overnight delivery. Thank you, SE Java Developer Group.

However, I power it up and discover that it won't do anything other than demo mode without a SIM. What's up with that?

Why disable the PDA functions if a SIM isn't in the device? What happens if I fry my SIM while abroad?

AT&T gave me a free spare SIM, but I don't understand the rational behind the feature lockout.

Hmmm.... I wonder if the SE Java Developer Group has any interest in putting an interface to SAP together? Do you think you could have a word with them and see if they'll send me a P900? ^
